Online Counseling: Learn to Be Your Best From the Comfort of Your Room
Counseling, alternatively known as “Therapy” or “Psychotherapy”, is a method of addressing mental health concerns through successive consultation sessions. At People, the options for counseling sessions are either through online or in-person at our office.
Studies have shown that online counseling can be as effective as in-person counseling. Online counseling offers the convenience of therapy at the comfort of your own private space. This may also be an option for clients who are not from Kuala Lumpur, but still wish to undertake sessions to effectively address their mental health.

Our team members engage in evidence-based practice. As such, your therapist will only promote, facilitate, teach, and/ or provide advice which are shown to be effective from best available research in addressing your presenting issues.
Therapy duration will be dependent on a variety of factors, such as the nature and severity of the presenting issues, treatment goals, and cost/ lifestyle considerations. Conventionally, sessions are done on a weekly basis. Depending on the factors mentioned, sessions can also be done based on the client’s availability (e.g. once every two weeks, once a month).
Short-term therapy is defined as having 12 sessions or less. Oftentimes, these sessions can be effective in addressing specific and targeted goals. Click here to learn how to make the best use of short-term therapy.
Whether you are keen on short-term or longer term sessions, there is evidence to show that the counseling process is helpful in addressing mental health issues (click here for an example of short-term therapy outcomes, and click here for an example of long-term therapy outcomes). Counseling is always collaborative. While your therapist may have recommendations on the frequency of sessions to effectively meet your goals, you are able to choose the frequency and amount of sessions that you would like to have. Your therapist will collaboratively alter your goals with you so that they can be effectively met through the session(s).
